Christopher Soto was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. An only child of two artists, he spent most of his time playing with Legos and taking apart devices to learn how they work—he always ended up with extra parts upon reassembling. His teenage years involved a lot of guitar playing, drinking, and not much studying. This is where his appreciation for the arts began. He ate, slept, and breathed guitar riffs; if he liked a song, he’d learn how to play it. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army—where he served 8 years and deployed to places in the Middle East such as: Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Qatar. It was this new, on the road lifestyle that the Army intrigued him in purchasing his first camera—for the sole reason of having a cool background for his computer. What he saw and experienced in the army made him value education and upon completing his contract with the US Army, he used his GI Bill to get an Associate’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering. In his free time from school, he took it upon himself to study photography and learn from its masters. Photography is now his obsession; he doesn’t leave the house without his camera.
